Du vet att du varit i Afrika ett tag när du blir exalterad av tanken på en dusch med schampo. Inte ens en dusch förresten, skjulet med en vattenhink will do it.
You know that feeling of being a bit too excited over a shower that includes schampo, not even a proper shower by the way, the shack with a bucket of water will do the trick. That’s when you’ve been in Africa for a while.

En av de manliga lärarna sitter bredvid mig och ser på musikvideos med Justin Bieber på sin laptop. Och det kvittar vilken slags restaurang eller vilken tid på dygnet det är, i Uganda spelas smörig musik a la ”Absolute Love Songs” at any time.
One of the male teachers is sitting next to me watching Justin Bieber music videos on his laptop. And it doesn’t matter what kind of restaurant you’re at or what time of the day it is, here in Uganda this wonderful mixture of songs which could be taken straight from some “Absolute Love Songs” record is played anywhere, at any time.

Fick kommentaren igår när jag visade bilder hemifrån att ”Rebecca is cute in Sweden”. Kan väl inte klandra dem egentligen med tanke på hur jag pretty much förkastat allt som har med utseende att göra sedan jag kom hit.
Showed some pictures from home last night and got the comment ”Rebecca is cute in Sweden”. And I can’t really blame them either since I’ve pretty much abandoned everything that has something to do with vanity since I came here. Oh well.
